Kaufman offers two Choirs: The 4th grade Cougar Choir and the Oak Ridge Feeder Zone Choir
Kaufman Cougar Choir is open to all 4th graders. Members are encouraged to maintain good grades (above 70% in all classes) and good conduct (E’s and S’s). If interested, students must complete a registration form and pay for a choir shirt. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays after school from 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m..
The Cougar Choir meets from September through December.
Oak Ridge Feeder Zone Choir is made up of Choir students from the seven elementary schools in the Oak Ridge feeder zone – Kaufman, Houser, Ford, Oak Ridge, Birnham Woods, Broadway and Snyder.
Approximately 20 Choir students from each campus may participate in this group.
Our Coug 9 News Crew is made up of fourth grade students who are part of a “news” crew or a “tech” crew. These students help broadcast the announcements to the school each morning. They keep us informed about what is going on around Kaufman Elementary and help the school have a great start to a new day! Third grade students have a chance to apply for a position on one of our Coug 9 crews at the end of their third grade year.
Kindergarten through fourth grade students have the opportunity to participate in Destination Imagination (DI). DI is a program that encourages critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork. Students are part of a team that meets weekly. Teams compete annually at the district Destination Imagination Tournament.
